The IAM has published the report, ‘Motorcycle Safety – basic facts 2013’. Copies were available at the annual conference but it does not yet appear to be on the IAM website. A scanned pdf file of the report is attached which contains many telling statistics particularly concerning situations where motorcycle accidents occur and is well worth studying.

Free to a good home – paddock stand

Subject : Free Axle StandMessage Body : Hi, I used to be a member of the group a couple of years ago, but have temporarily put my bike away due to us having a baby last year. Moved house recently and I found my old bike axle stand. it’s one of those that cradles the rear swingarm, and then you push down on the back and it lifts the back wheel off the ground. It’s no use to me as I have a VFR (single sided swing arm), but I was wondering if anyone at the club wanted it? It’s free to a good home if someone can come collect it from Knaresborough road area Harrogate. If you can drop me an email reply with details of who would like it and we can arrange collection. If no-one interested I’ll throw it out, but it’s in very good condition so seems a shame to waste it. Kind Regards Paul

20th October Ride-Out
The final season ride-out on Sunday 20th October 2013 will be led by Doug Masterton.
The planned destination is Scarborough. Route A61 to Ripon by-pass, Sharrow, Dishforth, A168 & A19 to Osmotherley, moorland road to Helmsley (refreshments). Pickering, Thornton Dale, Dalby Forest Drive (£2 toll) Scarborough (top of North Bay). Bike parking on the sea front and a cafe. Scarborough, Staxton, Sledmere, Fridaythorpe, Stanford Bridge, York by-pass, B1224 to Wetherby where the ride will end. Beautiful scenery on the moorland road and in the Dalby Forest. About 150 miles. The route can be shortened if weather conditions are poor. The route comprises fast dual carriageway, main roads, gentle lanes and spirited Wolds B roads.
Assemble at the car park adjacent to Asda in Harrogate at 9:15 am for a 9:30 am set off. A good turn out for the last ride of the 2013 season would be good to be part of.
