Slow riding workshop Sunday 29th May

A reminder to all members, observers and associates of the slow riding workshop to be held on Sunday 29th May at Knaresborough Technology Park, Manse Lane, Knaresborough HG5 8LF from 9:00 – 12:00 hrs (approx). Everyone welcome.

One alert, however, is that the cafe cannot provide its usual service for us that day as there are no staff able to help during the bank holiday weekend. Our friend Barry Halverson is making his kettle available for us to use at the HQ of his training school on the site so we will be able to serve a drink but it might be wise to bring your own snack to keep yourself going during the morning. The petrol station on Manse Lane also has a vending machine.

Monthly Ride Out – Sunday June 19th

The HAB monthly ride falls on Fathers Day, so double enjoyment.
As usual, congregate at Asda lorry park, Harrogate for 9.30a.m., Sun 19th.
After a short briefing, we’ll set off at 10 and ride SE into Wharfedale, skirting a couple of market towns and then into Craven for morning coffee.
After coffee, over into Pendle and on to The Ribble Valley.  Riding north by the side of the river Ribble, up into The Yorkshire Dales National Park, to the www.craven-cruckbarn.co.uk for lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll ride east out of the national park, along a good section of Nidderdale to old faithful – Ripley Castle – for afternoon tea or ice cream and then home in decent time for dinner.  (I did look at Newby Hall Tea rooms but they said it would be £9 per bike to get in – must be having a laugh).

Your Bike Group Needs You – July 17th Sunday Ride Out Ride Leader

Your Bike Group Needs You – July 17th Sunday Ride Out Ride Leader

At the moment, we have no ride leader for our July Sunday Group Ride. These ride outs form the key social riding events of the club’s programme, and many of us will be disappointed if the ride does not take place.

If you are a full member of Harrogate Advanced Bikes please consider leading the July ride – a chance to take friends down some of your favourite roads and to friendly refreshment stops.

  • 120 – 140 miles is ideal, starting at Asda Harrogate,
  • Recce your route, for roads hazards, closures, and to check café’s can accommodate 15-20
  • Find a tail end Charlie to run as back marker (we can usually find a volunteer TECs)

Do please give some serious thought to leading our July ride – contact Andrew to volunteer, or for more information andrewpratt12@yahoo.co.uk
