It’s Quiz Time! Monday 9th HAB Club Night Bilton Cricket Club

Hi All

It’s that fun time of the year again! Harrogate Advanced Bikes annual Christmas Quiz. Get your team together for a night of questions you could, and should, know the answers to. Form a team of three on the night with the chance of an exotic prize!

This year, as ever, Quiz Master Doug Masterton will test us again with a well prepared list of awkward questions, games and other challenges. Working together pool your knowledge and pit your wits against former HAB chairman Doug, and opposing teams for top place.

Friends and partners are welcome, so bring along your biking mates too and make it a great evening. Our last chance for a club social evening this year and as usual a splendid buffet will be provided by Bilton Cricket Club.

Meet at Bilton Cricket Club 7.00pm and get your team together for a 7.30pm start as usual.

This Wednesday’s Mid Week Ride & Lunch Reminder

Hi All

This Wednesday’s Ride Out includes the Christmas lunch organised by David Haywood and is fully booked for lunch. He will have sent or will be sending out a reminder to HAB members who previously reserved a place.

We’re meeting at Ripley 9am for a 9.30 start and David will be leading a route similar to the year before last in his usual flowing style, no doubt.

This of course replaces the usual Wednesday December Ride.

Any questions please contact David Haywood david.haywood@mac.com

Sorry I can’t join you on Wednesday, but the forecast is sunny and a little warmer than today, so enjoy the weather and a splendid lunch.

All the best.

“An Evening With” at Colin Appleyards

An evening with Dougie & John Lampkin!

On Friday 13th December Colin Appleyards will be joined by the local, legendary Lampkins aka Dougie and John Lampkin for their latest ‘evening with’ event at their motorcycle branch in Keighley (Wellington Road, Worth Way, BD21 1AJ).

Also joining the Lampkins will be Colin Appleyards 2020 British Supersport Team riders: Brad Jones and Rory Skinner.

Doors will be open from 6pm & the event will get underway by 7pm.

As ever, places are limited so make sure you book your’s as soon as possible. I’ve pre-booked four spaces for this, as always, packed out event. The event is FREE and as usual Colin Appleyards will have a raffle with some fantastic prizes up for grabs with all proceeds going to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. There will also be food and drink available for a small charity donation.

Please contact me if you want to come along as a HAB group (plus friends) for the evening. Make your own arrangements if you prefer, but I will have my new (old) people carrier by then so will be able to transport up to eight people from the Harrogate area on the evening.

You can also book your own place by going to:

November 17th Sunday Ride Out A59 Loop

Meet at Route 59 Cafe on the A59 (BD23 6AF) West of Bolton Abbey/Bridge from 09.00 for a 09.30 start.  Cafe opens at 9.00.

Breakfast Time!

Up to Barden Tower over the tops to Embsay, Hetton, Airton, stopping at Malham for coffee at the Lister Arms, (BD23 4DB).

Best Pub in Yorkshire some say?

After refreshment we will go up up past Malham Cove, over to Stainforth and Clapham, past Stocks Reservoir to the Old Vicarage Tosside (BD23 4SQ) for a cosy lunch.

The View From The Old Vicarage

Setting off again after a main course and very possibly a well deserved dessert, we are off to Bolton by Bowland, Gisburn, Hellifield, Gargrave, Cracoe, Linton and Burnsall, finishing back again at Route 59 Cafe hopefully before they close at 16.00 for a cup of tea! Distance is only 108ml so we should have no need for refuelling. TEC is David Haywood if he can resist an overtake (just kidding).

I hope you can all make it this coming Sunday 17th.

Best regards.

Chris Armstrong

HAB Monday November 11th Evening Meeting

At our evening meeting next Monday 11th November we have been fortunate enough to have a presentation by Dale from ‘BikeSeal’, the puncture prevention and repair specialists.

This promises to be a very interesting and interactive event. Dale not only intends to show and demonstrate his products but give us a chance to use them on wheels he will bring. This will be a great experience for those of us who have never done this before and maybe lack the confidence to do it. He has asked that we bring along any repair/inflation systems we may have to promote greater debate. We have invited our fellow IAM members from the neighbouring York Advanced Motorcyclists to join us for the evening. Please make every effort to attend to do justice to our speaker’s commitment.

PLEASE NOTE – To allow ample time for Dales presentation the meeting will start earlier at 7.15 PM.

Don’t forget, if you have not already done so, to continue to receive posts from HAB, please use the new “Subscribe to our emails” on the right hand side of the webpage.

See you on the evening.

NEC BIKE SHOW COACH TRIP THURSDAY 21st

Hi HAB Members

John Thompson has invited us to join a coach party to the Bike Show at the NEC on Thursday 21st November. He has nine biking mates going, with the possibility of a 24 or 33 seat coach. The cost of the coach will be £20-£25 each, plus parking & maybe a tip and of course there will be your entry fee for the show. I’m hoping to go, but more details will follow after we see who else is.

It would be great to get together on the day, see the new metal and have some fun seeing the various events at the show. Please get in touch as soon as you can if you are interested & are able to go on that day.

All the best.
