Not the Christmas Dinner – Update

Ladies and Gentlemen.

Many thanks for your prompt response to last weeks email and I’m pleased to say the replies so far have been very positive.

Thus enthused, Karen and I have a meeting with the preferred venue management on Friday evening to progress arrangements and agree menu, seating and pricing details. As soon as this is confirmed, I’ll come back to you with our firm plans for your approval.

We’re really looking forward to making this a cracking night and I do hope to see you there.

It would be really good to understand the likely final number of participants and, if you haven’t yet responded and would like to attend, could I ask that you do so as soon as possible?

As a reminder, the key details are as follows:

  • Date:               Saturday February 18, 2023
  • Time:               7:00 for 07:30pm
  • Menu:             TBA
  • Venue:            TBA – but probably the Wildcard Greek restaurant in Harrogate.

Your indication by email to peter@plus-point.co.uk  with a subject of: NTCD would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks, Peter & Karen Smith

Not the Christmas Dinner (NTCD)

Ladies and Gentlemen.

As we approach the end of the year, it has become traditional for the club to arrange a dinner for members and their partners to get together over some good food, some good wine and copious good cheer.

Since inception, this event has been masterminded by Mike Fourie but for 2023, Karen & I have agreed to take over the baton (and the pressure!) from Mike with our very grateful thanks to him.

We are currently short-listing venues, menus and budgets and have a number of options under consideration. Our plans are to keep costings for a three-course meal with coffee at significantly under £35pp.  2 course options will be available for under £27pp. Our focus will be to deliver a great evening at the very best price so we plan to be creative with menu choices and selection to cater for all needs. More detail to follow once likely numbers are known.

The plan so far is as follows:

  • Date:               Saturday February 18, 2023
  • Time:               7:00 for 07:30pm
  • Menu:             Traditional/2 or 3 courses with coffee
  • Venue:            TBA – but large pub in Harrogate area

However, and as a Wildcard, we think we could break with tradition and “take-over” a small, family run Greek restaurant in Harrogate centre and provide an outstanding “Chefs Choice” menu for a group of up to 30 at a very reasonable price and with exceptional and authentic Greek food.

Could I therefore ask members to let me know initially:

  1. If you would be interested in attending, subject to the final details (Yes/No).
  2. How many places would you like?
  3. Would you be interested in the Wildcard option of the Greek restaurant (Yes/No).

Your early indication by email to peter@plus-point.co.uk  with a subject of: NTCD would be very much appreciated and enable us to get the details broadly settled before the end of November.

Many thanks, Peter & Karen Smith

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride – Sunday 22nd May

I have decided to take part in this year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride which takes place on Sunday 22nd May. I expect most of you already know that this is an international charity motorcycle event with the aim of raising awareness of and funds to support men’s health issues specifically prostate cancer and mental health. I am going to do the Leeds ride and I hope that some of you will want to support this cause by sponsoring me. You can sponsor me online using this link and any amounts will be going to an excellent cause.

Dear Members,

This is a final reminder to those of you who haven’t yet paid your 2022 subscriptions to Harrogate Advanced Bikes. The amount is £15 but is not due from Associates who have not yet passed their Advanced Test.

This can be paid at Lloyd’s Bank in person or by BACS, to sort code 30-93-91 and account number 01807888, account name Harrogate Advanced Bikes and using your name as a reference.

Finally for all members, this is also a reminder that to be a member of HAB, you are required to also renew your IAM membership when it falls due.

Best wishes,

Richard Stembrowicz

Treasurer

2022 Membership Subscriptions

Dear Members, a happy New Year and wishing all of you a better 2022. To those of you who have paid their 2022 subs, thank you. I will pick up your payments when the next bank statement arrives.

To those of you who have not yet paid, this is a reminder that the subs became due on the 1st January. The preferred method is by BACS, to Harrogate Advanced Bikes, at Lloyd’s Bank, sort code 30-93-91, account number 01807888, simply using your name as the reference.

Annual subscription is £15.

Lastly, to all renewing I, on behalf of the committee, would like to thank you for your loyalty during this continuing difficult period.

Very best wishes, Richard Stembrowicz, Treasurer

Annual members subscriptions for 2022

Dear Members,

Firstly, I would like to wish all of you, on behalf of the committee, compliments of the season and hope that you and all your families are safe and well and especially that you remain so over the coming holidays.

Secondly, it is that time of year when I send out notice that the annual subscriptions for 2022 become due on the 1st January. This also applies to any associates who have passed their advanced test during 2021, if you wish to remain a member.

I should also remind you that, to qualify for club membership, IAM membership subscriptions also need to be paid up for the period appropriate to when you joined.

The preference for payment of the HAB £15 subscription is by BACS, to Lloyd’s Bank, sort code 30-93-91, account number 01807888 and the reference should be your name.

However, if you cannot or do not wish to pay by BACS, the other methods are in person at Lloyd’s or your own bank or by giving me cash or a cheque at the club meetings.

Thank you all for your continuing support over what continues to be a difficult period and I look forward to seeing you at club meetings.

Best wishes,

Richard Stembrowicz
