Hi All,
For those fortunate retirees who are wondering how to fill yet another exhausting day of leisure, I have the answer…
A cracking 147-mile ride around the North Pennines.
Meet: Ripley Ice Cream & Coffee Shop: 9:15am for a prompt 9:30am Depart.
The route offers a great mix of flowing A-roads and entertaining B-roads, with some superb scenery along the way. The section across Weardale is particularly stunning, although it is littered by sheep with attitude, no road sense and absolutely no respect for the Highway Code.
Naturally, no ride out would be complete without regular refuelling stops for riders as well as motorcycles: Morning brew: Two Dales Bakery, Reeth. Lunch: The County Tea Room & Restaurant, Staindrop.
Finish: Morrisons, Boroughbridge around 4:00pm.
As always, the emphasis is on safe, progressive and enjoyable riding, with some great roads, good company and plenty of laughs along the way. The weather has already been informed that sunshine is expected-whether it listens is another matter!
Hope you can make it.
Derek.
