HAB Dales Ride Sunday 21st May

Meeting at Dragon Road Lorry park in Harrogate next to ASDA (HG1 5DE) with fuel available there. Arrive from 9.00am with a prompt getaway planned for 9.30am after a ride briefing.

Join Richard Stembrowicz for a ride around the Dales. Riding on familiar roads taking us west on the A59, turning north on the B6265 up through Cracoe, Threshfield and left onto the B6160 towards Kettlewell. Before we get to Kettlewell a stop at Kinsey Park Cafe (BD23 5PS) for a morning break. Get your breakfast or just a coffee.

Setting off again heading north again towards Kettlewell, Buckden and West Burton, making a couple of left turns and across the A684 turning right, passing Aysgarth Falls and on towards Carperby. Carrying along this minor road to Newbiggin and on to Reeth for lunch at The King’s Arms for a light bite or Sunday roast. For parking you will need to fit in somewhere, but we are planning an early lunch at 12.30 so it should be quieter at that time.

After lunch, setting off southwards across Grinton Moor going over the army ranges towards Leyburn. Then its the A6108 all the way back to Ripon, left at the Clock Tower, joining the bypass southwards towards Harrogate on the A61 and finishing our ride at Ripley (HG3 3AX).

Approximately 100 miles so we shouldn’t need a fuel stop.

Ride Leader Richard, TEC Barry.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Richard.

HAB Monday 17th Evening Ride-in to Bilton Cricket Club

Following on from Andrew Pratt’s splendid Sunday Ride. A Ride-in to Bilton Cricket Club for a what will probably be a social meeting this Monday evening.

Meeting in the Main Street in Ripley, from 6.00pm and setting off at 6.15pm. An anticlockwise trip up Scarah Bank through Sawley, Risplith and Grantley up to Kirkby Malzeard. Turning south, towards Laverton, then Blazefield and eastwards on the Brimham Rocks Road to Burnt Yates. Then via Clint Bank, Hampsthwaite and onto the cricket club for 7.15pm. A GPX file is available via email barrya.ring@gmail.com.

Mileage is only 31. It should take just an hour. The weather forecast is good, if you can make the timings, there aren’t any excuses, so hoping to see a good turnout for the ride at Ripley and our club meet.

Anyone fancy a little biking adventure?

Scottish 6 Day Trial

I am planning my annual camping trip to the Scottish 6 day Trial, leaving home Saturday 29th April to Wednesday 3rd May. It’s about 1000 miles in total including the ride to Fort William & back, along with a trip round the Ardnamurchan peninsula and possibly ride to Oban. We will spend some time watching the trial at various stages in the surrounding area.

Great roads and scenery. Weather can be unpredictable (sunburn to frost). I will be staying at a nice camp site on the banks of Loch Leven. It’s not an expensive trip but good fun. I am happy to take up to another 4 people with me please get in touch if you fancy it. 07 720 29 40 31.
