Monday 14th September Evening Ride Out

Hi All

In the absence of our late summer evening meeting a quick run out from Harrogate to firm favourite The Wetherby Whaler, Guiseley is planned for Monday evening. To make the most of the available daylight the meeting time at Dragon Road Lorry Park Harrogate is from 18.00 with a set off time at 18.30.

A short ride with a mixture of terrain. Setting off from Dragon Road via Beckwithshaw, Fewston and on to the A59 at Blubberhouses, down to Beamsley and up over Howber Hill to Ilkley. Up past the Cow & Calf , Menston, Hawksworth and into Guiseley for our well deserved fish & chips!

The weather forecast for Monday is good so make the most of the late summer with this final evening ride out.*

I hope you can make it. Please get in touch with Barry on 07847 786608 to book one of the six available spaces*.

*Subject to demand another run can also be arranged on a different evening next week. Please ask.

Upcoming HAB Ride Outs

Hi All

I hope most of you have had a chance to get out on one of the recent HAB ride outs. Thanks very much to all the ride leaders and tail end Charlies for their hard work.

As I’m sure you are aware the current limit set by the IAM for group ride out numbers have to be kept to six or less. We have had requests for ride leader’s contact details to be published once the ride is decided in an effort to give everyone an equal chance of booking a space. HAB members can view the event calendar on the website where details of the rides are published and will now include a telephone number to ring or text to book as soon as the leader is confirmed.

http://www.harrogateadvancedbikes.co.uk/event-calendar/

We have had a great response with ride leaders readily coming forward since the Covid-19 lockdown has eased. Hopefully we can continue to put on additional rides or groups over a weekend and will happily consider new rides/ideas/alternative weekends and encourage new leaders (full HAB members) to copy the route or lead their own alternative rides on the same day. GPX files can be shared for your Garmin or Tom-tom satnav units.

Thanks

Monday 10th August Evening Ride Out

This coming Monday evening Enzo Vincenzo Denti will lead us on a spirited ride through Nidderdale. Sadly for us the White Bear in Masham is fully booked with diners so we intend to stop in Ripon market place and feast on fish & chips from Drakes a few yards away.

The meeting place is at ASDA lorry park 7.00pm for a swift set off at the latest 7.30pm or sooner if all riders are present.

Six riders only as per the new normal. Please contact Enzo on 07551 405996.

If we have an overflow of demand another evening ride can be organised. Please contact Barry on 07847786608.

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th August Double Header Ride Out

Due to the HAB member demand a double header August Saturday and Sunday Ride Out has been devised. Pete McNulty has planned and is leading the Saturday Run and Barry Ring will lead the Sunday doppleganger to cover extra demand for the ride.

Saturday is nearly full as members have contacted Pete directly 07812 105028 to book a space. There are spaces available on Sunday but limited to six of course so get in touch with Barry as soon as you can on 07847 786608.

Both days meet in Ripley at 9.30am to leave at 9.45am full tanks and empty bladders.

The first section of the ride is an A-road romp north wards to Northallerton and our morning coffee stop at The Joiners Shop, Ingleby CrossDL6 3ND at the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

After coffee, a little more A-road to Stokesley but then eastwards on unclassified across the NYMNP for our well earned lunch stop at Ravenscar Tearooms YO13 0LU (A fuel stop is available before we reach Ravenscar).

Onwards after lunch back across the park to Thornton-le Dale-Helmsley-Ampleforth- Coxwold for an afternoon break at The Rumah Home Tearooms YO61 4AD.

On a quick route past Boroughbridge, through Minskip, Farnham and Scotton back to Ripley to finish and an ice cream if you have not had your fill yet! It’s a cracking ride out 165 miles in total. Make sure you are tanked up to start or top up at the fuel stop.

Contact Pete for Saturday 07812 105028 or Barry for Sunday 07847 786608.

Wednesday 5th August HAB Ride-Glorious Hartside Summit

‘The Glorious Hartside Summit’ Chris Armstrong will lead the ride on Wednesday, 5th August.

Meet at Route 59 Cafe, BD236AF  from 09.15 for a 09.30 departure. Martin Pettitt is the tail end Charlie. Be prepared, this is a good long ride of 183 miles with a fuel stop of course. Enjoy!

The first stop is for coffee at Kilnsey Park (BD23 5PS). We then head for Brough and the sublime B6276 to Middleton-In-Teasdale for lunch at the Tees’pot Cafe (DL12 0QB) which I have booked us into.

After lunch we ride another “belter” of a road the B6277 to Alston and then the A686 to Hartside Summit where we stop to enjoy the views, weather permitting.

Because it’s a long day I have put in a short stretch of the M6 South to Tebay at J38 but made up for this by going on the A685 and B6257 to Ingmire Hall and the A683 to Kirkby Lonsdale where we will have a short stop and then head back on the A65/A59 to our finishing point the Route 59 Cafe. HMG and IAM guidelines limit us to six . Please telephone me on 07960 116166 if you wish to join the ride.

Best wishes

Chris
