Reminder- This Sunday July 18th Ride Out-Dales and Pennines

Meet at the Ripley Car park at 9.00am to leave at 9.30am with full tanks.

Ride leader Paul Holmes, TEC Barry Ring.

The first section of the ride takes you northwards to West Tanfield, Masham and Leyburn and to our morning coffee stop at Manor Farm Cafe, Bellerby, DL8 5QH.

Bacon Butty, you know you want one!

After coffee, we head further north via Downholme on the A6108 heading towards Richmond.  From Richmond we head north once more, passing through Whashton Green and Ravensworth before reaching the A66.  Next we head west along the A66 for a short while before turning right heading towards Hutton Magna and then onto Ovington and Winston. We then pick up the A67 and head to Barnard Castle.  From Barnard Castle we head north on the B6278/B6282 to Middleton-In-Teasdale for lunch DL12 0QB. Plenty of cafes for lunch options or feel free to bring your own refreshments.

After lunch we will head south on the B6277/B6276 back towards Brough on some great winding roads with spectacular views of the Pennines, passing Selset Reservoir on the way.  From Brough we head along the A685 to Kirkby Stephen and then onto Nateby.  At Nateby we pick up the B6270 heading east to Thwaite and onto Reeth where we can stop for refreshments and leg stretch.

From Reeth we head to Grinton and then head up and over Whipperdale Bank past the ranges to Leyburn (Fuel stop if required).  From Leyburn on a quick route we will head east on the A684 to Bedale. From Bedale on the ring road we will head towards Leeming Bar and pick up the A6055 running parallel to the A1(M) going south to pick up the A61 which will bring us back towards Ripon and into Ripley for the finish (approximate finish 15:45).

The route is approximately 150 miles.  Please start with a full tank if you can but it is a long run so there will be a fuel stop. A GPX route file is available on request.

Including Sunday the 18th the current guidelines are that 30 can meet outdoors and 6 from any household indoors. Please bear that in mind, particularly at the refreshment stops, keep to social distancing guidelines and wear a mask/face covering at appropriate times. The weather is forecast warm and sunny so above all enjoy the ride!

I hope you can join the ride. Please let me know if you can on 07746 378175.

Thanks

Paul Holmes
