This Sunday 16th we are meeting at the Route 59 Cafe near Bolton Bridge BD23 6AF for our first Sunday Club Ride of 2022. Please arrive from 9.00am for chat and 9.30am set off. Make sure to have enough fuel for an 85 mile loop finishing at the A59 cafe again. The forecast is looking reasonable with little chance of rain.

The route takes us westwards on the A59 past Skipton and just before Gargrave we turn northwards towards Eshton and westwards again for Airton, over Scosthrop Moor for our morning stop in Settle BD24 9EJ (nothing booked but there are plenty of food outlets).

After morning break we are off westwards again cutting across the A65 on a back road through Eldroth joining the B6480 through the Benthams and to Melling. Northwards on the A683 to Cowan Bridge and then eastwards on the A65 to our lunch stop a few miles along on the right hand side so watch out for the turn. Lunch is booked for 12.30pm at the Earby Green Farm Caravan Site & Cafe LA6 2JH. Nice place, we have been there before.

After a hearty lunch we are of again eastwards on the A65 turning left towards Thornton-in-Lonsdale looping around Ingleton, on a roundabout route heading back to the A59 Cafe.

If you are planning to come along please send me a text 07847 786 608. A lunch table is booked for 8 people and it would be helpful if we need increase the table booking if necessary. There is covered outdoor seating if you prefer.

Please observe common sense distancing and wear face coverings when necessary.

Mileage is about 85. Barry Ring is your ride leader with Paul Dresser as TEC.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Covid Update

Due to the unprecedented rise in the Omicron variant the committee has taken the decision to suspend indoor meetings until the situation changes. For now the meeting this Monday 10th Jan is cancelled and we will review on a monthly basis.

We feel this is the most responsible course of action given the way this variant is spreading and whilst the majority of us are triple jabbed this only prevents serious illness and does not affect transmission to others.

Barry will try to maintain the ride outs so please look out for his posts, we may find that whilst the ride out can go ahead there may be some form of restrictions when gathering at stops. We will update you further.

Stay Safe

Paul Dresser

Merry Christmas

Dear Members,

On behalf of myself the committee I would like wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

It has been a difficult year for all with Covid affecting our activities and now the further threat of Omicron which seems to be spreading rapidly. This has curtailed some activities but thankfully we have been able to continue riding and I would like to thank Barry Ring as our ride out coordinator for his determination in ensuring ride outs continued.

We have also maintained a full training program and again thanks must go to Bob and all the observers for their efforts throughout the year.

If government guidance dictates we may look at the January club meeting being on zoom and it would be the perfect opportunity to re-run the Xmas Quiz, we will post an update as we know more

Again, Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a safe and prosperous New Year.

Paul Dresser, Chairman.

Annual members subscriptions for 2022

Dear Members,

Firstly, I would like to wish all of you, on behalf of the committee, compliments of the season and hope that you and all your families are safe and well and especially that you remain so over the coming holidays.

Secondly, it is that time of year when I send out notice that the annual subscriptions for 2022 become due on the 1st January. This also applies to any associates who have passed their advanced test during 2021, if you wish to remain a member.

I should also remind you that, to qualify for club membership, IAM membership subscriptions also need to be paid up for the period appropriate to when you joined.

The preference for payment of the HAB £15 subscription is by BACS, to Lloyd’s Bank, sort code 30-93-91, account number 01807888 and the reference should be your name.

However, if you cannot or do not wish to pay by BACS, the other methods are in person at Lloyd’s or your own bank or by giving me cash or a cheque at the club meetings.

Thank you all for your continuing support over what continues to be a difficult period and I look forward to seeing you at club meetings.

Best wishes,

Richard Stembrowicz

Treasurer

Update on Covid restrictions and the Meeting

In light of recent Covid anouncmnets we are taking the following approach with regards this evenings meeting.

  1. We would ask all members attending to take a lateral flow test in advance.
  2. We would ask all members to wear a mask during the evening, except when drinking or eating or if medically exempt.

We hope you can all understand why this precaution is being taken in the best interest of all members.

Chairman

HAB Last 2021 Sunday Ride 19th December

I hope some of you will be up for a brief but interesting ride prior to getting too involved in the Christmas season. This will be the last official ride before Christmas. The ride out on Sunday 19th December has taken into account the limited daylight and possible problems with the weather, not to mention the dreaded Omicron variant! The exact route will depend on these issues, which may cause route changes on the day, or in the worst case, sadly, cancellation. However, all being well we will depart from ASDA lorry park on Dragon Road, Harrogate at 9.30am hopefully with the sun shining on an unseasonably warm day!! We will take the direct popular main road route to the Biker Café at Bellerby via Ripon and Leyburn for an indulgence of Spam and Egg sandwiches or similar.

Manor Cafe Bellerby

From Bellerby we will travel to Reeth then onwards through Gunnerside and Muker, finally diving down via the Buttertubs Pass and stopping in Hawes for lunch.

Lunch Venue to be decided on the day!

The Penny Garth Cafe
The Chippy!
Or even The Creamery Grommet!

After lunch, returning via Kettlewell, Grassington and Pateley Bridge finishing at Ripley.
Ice Cream for the hardy? The aim at this stage is to get back before the darkness and cold spoil things.

The total distance of the ride is 110 miles so most bikes should make it on one tank.
Please Note. Weather: If freezing conditions or snow are forecast the ride will be cancelled so check your phones before setting out.
Covid: If you have symptoms please do not attend.

Look forward to seeing you there.
Bob and Andy
