Pit your wits using your general knowledge of motorcycling and of Yorkshire in our fun evening of questions and puzzles that everyone can join in and enjoy. Come along and help make up a team in which participants work together to pool their knowledge and talent in order to challenge their rivals. There will be prizes!!

Christmas Lunch Ride Out

Wednesday 12th December
For the ride to our Christmas lunch venue we are meeting at Ripley Car Park, 0915 for 0930 departure.
West on to the B road to Pateley Bridge, Grassington & onto Kilnsey Trout Farm Café BD23 5PS for coffee.
Re-joining our route through Arncliffe, Langcliffe, Settle, then Keasden, Gisburn Forest & to Tosside for lunch at The Old Vicarage, Tosside BD23 4SQ.
After a good lunch, we head south to Bolton by Bowland, Blacko, Colne outskirts, Carleton to finish at the Route 59 café.
57 miles to lunch, & 35 return.
Andrew will lead our ride and a volunteer tail ender would be appreciated.

Meet at Route 59 Cafe (with full fuel tanks) on the A59 West of Bolton Abbey from 09.00 for a prompt 09.30 departure.
For the first leg of our ride we head for Hetton and on to Malham, Stainforth, and Austwick.
Morning coffee (and cheese) stop will be at the Courtyard Dairy and Cheese Shop near Lawkland (LA2 8AS).
After coffee we head to Ingleton on the back road from Clapham then on to Sedbergh via Dent and Millthrop.
Lunch stop is The Wensleydale Creamery (DL8 3RN) AND OUR SECOND CHEESE STOP! Cracking cheese stop Gromit!
After lunch back to Cafe 59 via Buckden and Burnsall. The distance out is 80 miles, back 35 total 115.
In the event of a severe weather forecast for the day members will be notified on Friday, 7th December that the ride is cancelled.
After November’s splendid turnout fingers crossed for a repeat of the good weather.

Wednesday Ride Report & Puncture Advice
Great ride today, thanks to David’s route planning around East Yorkshire, & unseasonably warm November weather and of course great company. Great lunch in Scagglethorpe, lots of dry twisties, plenty of muddy ones too.
One of our party suffered a puncture, caused by a piece of stone, which left a hole size of a biro. i.e. massive. Tire repair foam applied, no use whatsoever.
I applied my “Crafty Plugger” (rats tails) kit, which has never failed repairs for me (unlike “mushrooms”, & aforesaid foam). It took 3 strings to seal the hole, the most I’ve ever had to use, but it worked. Pumped up with 4 CO2 canisters, and we were gingerly away.
No leaks after an hour or so. & our rider rode home safely

You also need a means to pump your tyre up, I favour CO2 mini bottles, with a applicator tool. Buy at cycle shops (Halfords, Evans), or, cheaper online.

Monday evening’s meeting went well, despite the lack of a speaker. I hope the impromptu film was sufficiently interesting. A big thank you to Peter for being master of ceremonies.

In Bob’s words “Great results for the Associates, the Club and the Observer Team. Well done. We have achieved 3 First out of 13 test passes this year”.

Just a reminder about tonight’s Meeting at Bilton Cricket Club. A social meeting as no speaker I’m afraid. As usual, however, the normal plentiful and delicious food will be provided. Also if we can surmount any technical hurdles we can watch a motorbike related film which I hope you will enjoy.

Winter Sunday Ride Outs
The calendar page on the HAB website has been updated with confirmed dates for the Winter 2018 Sunday Ride Outs.
Andrew Pratt is leading next Sunday’s Ride Out (18th) and Chris Armstrong’s December ride is now on the second Sunday (9th).
Wednesday Ride Outs
A reminder that David Haywood’s November Mid Week Ride Out is this Wednesday 14th.
Meet North Street Deli, North Street, Wetherby from 9am for prompt 9.30 start.

We’ve visited Kearton Hotel several times, hopefully the route will be a little different to previous. A shorter ride this month, 102 miles, having regard to early darkness and potential inclement weather.
From our usual ASDA meeting place, 9.00am for 9.30 am start, we head north on B roads to Masham, then Bedale, and onto Ellerton for coffee at:
Lakeside Farm Shop & Country Café, DL10 6AP
Now we head west, through Richmond and up through Swaledale, to Thwaite for lunch at:
Kearton Country Hotel, Thwaite, DL11 6DR
Now through Askrigg, Aysgarth, Bishopdale and on to Stump Cross Caverns where our ride will finish.
