Ride Out Updates 2023

HAB Happy Team!

You will have seen in the last HAB post news about the change of date for the Mid-Week ride this month and that goes ahead this Wednesday the 11th as planned (please see the previous post for details).

Normally this coming week-end would be the correct one for our Sunday Ride-Out. However, that too has been moved and will now take place on Sunday 22nd January instead. Apologies for any inconvenience and of course a post will go out with details soon.

Next month should be back to normal with the dates set out on the 2023 Event Calendar on the HAB website. Please have a look at the ride dates in the calendar. Ride leaders are needed for all months both for Sundays and Wednesdays so don’t be shy, please come forward and support your club with your ideas for a favourite route. If you are going to be new to leading a ride and if you require any support, just ask. Use this link for more details.

Cancelled Sunday 18th December Ride Out.

I had planned a ride out this weekend to Hollingworth Lake at Littleborough near Rochdale, for lunch at the Wine Press and stopping at Haworth on the way. After doing a recce with Roy Beniston a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been watching the long range weather forecast since. A few days ago it was showing 70% chance of sleet and near freezing temperatures on Sunday 18th. Now it is showing 90% chance of rain but temperatures a little higher. Even if we chose another route the weather is going to be the same and I don’t believe we should ride out in these conditions, so sadly and sorry but I am cancelling the ride.

The first Sunday ride of 2023 hopefully (weather permitting) will provide an opportunity to try again.

Thank you for all your support in 2022, Ride Leaders, TEC’s and those that joined the rides. I hope you got as much out of it as I did.

Roll on 2023.

HAB Weekday Ride Out & Annual Christmas Lunch Thursday 8th Dec.

A table has been reserved at The Bay Horse in Great Broughton for this year’s Christmas Lunch on Thursday December 8th.

Subject to weather on the day, John Blanchfield will lead a ride to and back from the restaurant, details to be confirmed later. Feel free, of course, to make your own way to the restaurant should you prefer. Either way we should aim to arrive at the Bay Horse no later than 1pm. This will allow us to relax in the bar, have a natter and be seated in good time for lunch.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to join us. Knowing the total covers required along with your menu choices will allow me to secure the booking (menu details below). Please text 07 779 214 331.

A deposit of £10 per person is required – please pay this into my account below so I can consolidate everything and pay the total to the Bay Horse on your behalf. Please don’t pay the restaurant direct as this will only confuse things.

£10 deposit please to secure your place, payable to: David Haywood

Sort Code: 09-01-28 Acc. No: 73133325

I hope you can join us!

David
