Monday Meeting Reminder

Hi All

Just a reminder about tonight’s Meeting at Bilton Cricket Club.  A social meeting as no speaker I’m afraid.  As usual, however, the normal plentiful and delicious food will be provided.  Also if we can surmount any technical hurdles we can watch a motorbike related film which I hope you will enjoy.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you that can make it this evening.

Best regards

Barry

Proposed ride route.

We’ve visited Kearton Hotel several times, hopefully the route will be a little different to previous.  A shorter ride this month, 102 miles, having regard to early darkness and potential inclement weather.

Lakeside Farm Shop & Country Café, DL10 6AP

Now we head west, through Richmond and up through Swaledale, to Thwaite for lunch at:

Kearton Country Hotel, Thwaite, DL11 6DR

Now through Askrigg, Aysgarth, Bishopdale and on to Stump Cross Caverns where our ride will finish.

Stop Press-Sunday Ride Outs to Continue Though Winter

Well, I’m pleased to say, following a positive discussion during the October Sunday ride, and during the last committee meeting, a decision has been made to continue Sunday rides during the winter.  That’s great news for lovers of our day long rides.  Andrew Pratt has offered to lead a ride in November and Chris Armstrong in December.

Any member who fancies leading another of the winter rides, particularly someone who has not done so before is invited to do so.  Any advice required can be given.

Details of November’s Sunday ride will follow soon.

Update for this Sunday’s Ride Out

Richard has finished planning his ride-out for this Sunday and the route will start at our usual meeting point at the ASDA lorry park in Harrogate, anytime from 9.00am for a prompt set off with full fuel tanks at 9.30am.

Outbound Route

Leave Harrogate north via A61 to Ripon and Thirsk, A170 to Helmsley for a coffee and cake stop at Auntie Annies off Castlegate with it’s own parking.

Leaving Helmsley take the B1257, towards Stokesley.

Our lunch stop is at the Marina in Hartlepool where the HMS Trincomalee is moored. Take the road straight through the town centre, following the signs for the Marina (yacht symbol).

As mentioned in the previous post Richard is hoping for a decent length lunch stop to make the most of our visit. (Entrance to the museum is £10, concessions may apply)

Return Route

From the Marina, turn left for a fuel stop at Asda, off the roundabout.

Leave Hartlepool south on the A689/A19. Take the A1044 heading for Yarm (A1044-B1264), then Northallerton- Sandhutton (A167).

And finally the A61 around Ripon finishing at Ripley for an well deserved ice cream!

This is the penultimate Sunday ride-out of the year so hopefully we can have a good turn out.

Best regards
