Update for this Sunday’s Ride Out

Richard has finished planning his ride-out for this Sunday and the route will start at our usual meeting point at the ASDA lorry park in Harrogate, anytime from 9.00am for a prompt set off with full fuel tanks at 9.30am.

Outbound Route

Leave Harrogate north via A61 to Ripon and Thirsk, A170 to Helmsley for a coffee and cake stop at Auntie Annies off Castlegate with it’s own parking.

Leaving Helmsley take the B1257, towards Stokesley.

Our lunch stop is at the Marina in Hartlepool where the HMS Trincomalee is moored. Take the road straight through the town centre, following the signs for the Marina (yacht symbol).

As mentioned in the previous post Richard is hoping for a decent length lunch stop to make the most of our visit. (Entrance to the museum is £10, concessions may apply)

Return Route

From the Marina, turn left for a fuel stop at Asda, off the roundabout.

Leave Hartlepool south on the A689/A19. Take the A1044 heading for Yarm (A1044-B1264), then Northallerton- Sandhutton (A167).

And finally the A61 around Ripon finishing at Ripley for an well deserved ice cream!

This is the penultimate Sunday ride-out of the year so hopefully we can have a good turn out.

Best regards

Barry

Sunday 16th September Ride Out

Sunday 16th HAB Ride-Out to see HMS Trincomalee Hartlepool

‘The Oldest Warship Afloat’?

For anyone expecting Paul Dresser to be doing his Lakeland Museum run sadly Paul has had to cancel and sends his apologies.

Thankfully Richard Strembrowicz has stepped into the breach with an excellent alternative.

HMS Trincomalee is reputably the oldest warship afloat, built in India in the 1800’s and fully accessible by the public.  Not as big as HMS Victory but considerably nearer to us! Our Ride Out this coming Sunday, lead by Richard, is taking us to the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool TS24 0SQ, where HMS Trincomalee is moored along with other exhibits.  Although there will be an entrance fee it is low and you can gift aid it. Parking is free and catering is on site. Richard is hoping we will get a decent amount of time there so we can make the most from our visit.

Due to Richard stepping in at this point the route is still being finalised, however rest assured, sufficient stops for fuel, sustenance and interesting roads will be factored in.

All in, a very interesting venue to visit, and a fine mixture of roads to ride. The ride is approximately 140 miles so please start with a full tank of fuel and contact the ride leader in good time to fill up.

Looking forward to seeing as many HAB members buying a sailor hat for the kids/grand-kids as possible this Sunday.

Monday Evening Ride Out 13th August

Bob Hill is leading us to Squires Cafe Bar, popular meeting point for all bikers, in Newthorpe near Sherburn in Elmet. There is always food available and plenty of polished metal to look at, so no worries there. Usual meeting point at Dragon Road lorry park next to Asda in Harrogate, 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm set off.  This is officially the last evening ride as next month will be an indoor meeting so I hope you can all make it next Monday.

Thruxton BSB

Hi Folks

Sorry for the short notice, but I have a spare weekend ticket to Thruxton BSB this coming weekend.  Supplied courtesy of Bennetts Insurance with a ride in the safety car on Saturday.  I’m going whatever, but due to my brother dropping out a ticket is going spare. I’m travelling down a good distance after work on Friday, stopping over, and making a good day of it on Saturday.  I may blast back Saturday evening or stop over another night and hopefully enjoy the continuing good weather.  The offer is open to anyone in HAB so get in touch if you want a impromptu adventure.

Hi All

Just a reminder about this coming Sunday’s 22nd ride.  For anyone not going anywhere else on Sunday see the previous post regarding Bob’s popular route to Middleton-in-Teesdale.  The weather looks good, about 5% chance of rain according to my searches.  No football, no tennis, no DIY and definitely no shopping!

9.00 am lorry park next to ASDA Dragon Road for prompt 9.30 set off with full tanks (fuel station at Asda).

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Best regards
