Sunday Ride Out reminder

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder about tomorrows ride.  Usual meeting point at the lorry park next to Asda on Dragon road in Harrogate.  9.00am meet for 9.30 prompt set off with a full tank of fuel.

This could be called “The Four Counties Ride” as we ride from North Yorkshire into West and South Yorkshire and on to Derbyshire.   Morning break at The Fox & Hounds, Newmillerdam WF2 6QQ, lunch at the Strines Inn overlooking the reservoir, S6 6JE and an afternoon stop at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at West Bretton, WF4 4 JX.

Mileage is 161 including the trip back to Wetherby services and there are plenty of opportunities for fuel stops.

It’s a very varied ride with town sections and open moorland with plenty of good views.  Roy Beniston is doing the honours as “tail end Charlie”.

If anyone wants a track file for their satnav get back to me at barrya.ring@gmail.com and I will email it to you.

Looking forward to seeing as many as possible tomorrow.

All the best.

Barry

HAB June Ride-Out Sunday 24th

Hi All,

Apologies for the short notice. The HAB Ride-out planned for the usual third Sunday of the month (17th June), as it falls on Fathers Day and so that it is not too close to the Wednesday ride-out of this week, has been postponed until the following Sunday 24th.

Sorry to disappoint anyone who can’t make the 24th.

West Yorks and Peaks Sunday 24th June.

Ride leader Barry Ring

With lots of unfamiliar roads, the planned ride is straight down the old A1 from Wetherby, cross country from Pontefract, then south into Derbyshire and along Snake Pass, back up to Glossop, up Holme Moss, through Holmfirth and stopping at The West Yorkshire Sculpture Park for afternoon tea.  The ride can end there, but if anyone wants to follow back to Wetherby Moto services I will happily lead the way.

Morning stop is The Fox & Hounds at Newmillerdam WF2 6QQ.

Lunch stop is at The Strines Inn, Bradfield Dale S6 6JE.

Time permitting, the plan is to finish at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park WF4 4JX, however I will lead the final leg up the M1 and do a final stop at Wetherby Moto services on the A1.

It’s a decent ride, the mileage is about 161, including the optional last leg to the Wetherby services. There are plenty of opportunities for fuel top-ups, please let the ride leader know.

Looking forward to seeing as many as possible at the usual meeting point, Sunday 24th June, Dragon Road lorry park next to Asda from 9.00 am for 9.30 am set-off with a full fuel tank.

Best regards

Barry

Monday Evening Ride-Out 11th June

Hi All

Our Monday evening meeting/ride-out is this Monday 11th.

I’ve got a ride Ilkley way, up my sleeve, but if anyone has got a ride that they want to share and lead I would be happy to do the tail-end duties. Meeting point is Asda lorry park, 7.00pm for 7.30pm prompt set off. An hours ride is more than adequate and a food stop at the end for anyone who needs it. Again no particular theme and no pressure with marked junctions etc. The weather looks good so I hopefully as many as possible can make it.

All the best

June mid week ride.

The June midweek ride on Wednesday 13th June will be lead by John Blanchfield.
Starting at St James Retail Park, Knaresborough (9.00am for 9.30 am start) we head to Tadcaster, Cawood, north of Selby, then Howden to the newly discovered Waterwheel Cafe (thanks to Trevor Cooper) for delicious coffee and scones. From there head east, alongside the M62, to Beverley and onto Hornsea Marine Drive for fish and chips (with a seaview). Return journey takes us north to Skipsea then inland to Driffield, Sledmere, Kirkham Priory and Easingwold (tea or ice cream?). The route will finish in the layby on the A59 just before St James Retail Park. Total mileage 143 miles.

Sunday 20th May Ride-out

Dear All,

Due to personal circumstances the planned May 20th “Two Birds Tour” is postponed until later this year.

Thankfully, Andrew Pratt has stepped in and will lead his March run, canceled because of the poor weather, this coming Sunday.

May’s Sunday Ride 20th May – Locomotion Rail Museum, Shildon, Co. Durham

This was to be our first Sunday ride of 2018, which we had to cancel due to snow & ice en route. Hopefully May’s weather will be a little better !

A full briefing will be given at 0915 at our usual start point, the ASDA lorry park, Dragon Road, Harrogate. We plan to leave at 0930 we will travel via Summerbridge, Kirkby Malzeard, Masham & coffee at the Manor Café, Bellerby.

Now heading north via Swaledale & Barnard Castle to Locomotion, where there is no charge for entry, however a suggested donation of £3 would be very much appreciated by the museum. The café serves snacks & light lunches.

Our return will be via Piercebridge, Richmond, Newton le Willows, West Tanfield, to finish at Ripley. Anyone for ice-cream?

Total miles 130

This Monday Evening Ride-Out

Hi All,

Just a reminder that this Monday meeting is a ride-out from Asda lorry park and not a meet at the cricket club. The weather forecast is good and I hope as many can come along tomorrow evening as possible. 7.00pm meet for 7.30pm set off, finish at The Wetherby Whaler, on the York ring road, near the A59.

Monday evening 14th May first ride-out

For next Monday evening I’m planning to lead a short ride-out from our usual gathering point at the Asda lorry park. 7.00pm meet for 7.30pm set off. The ride will take us around some interesting roads towards Ripon and on to the outskirts York finishing at the York branch of the Wetherby Whaler (YO26 6RA) for fish & chips. Of course the weather will be as good as last weekend, but in any case we can wish for it! No special theme for the ride and I hope as many of the group can come as possible for an unpressured ride.

All the best
